Influencer Series: Josephine Pearl Lee

Josephine Pearl Lee (aka Princess Gollum) is a model/stylist by day, DJ by night, and 24/7 style queen. With her provocative sense of fashion and unique aesthetic that Sandra Song of Paper Mag dubs a mix of “early aughts metalcore meets industrial goth,” petite yet provocative Josephine is one to watch in the LA scene. We had the chance to sit down and chat with Josephine about her career, her aspirations, and what’s next.

What's your hometown, where do you live now?

Born in Los Angeles, Grew up in Orange County, Now based in Los Angeles. I’m a Cali girl :-P xx

How did you get into modeling/photography/art/fashion and what inspired you?

I’ve always been into challenging our society's standards of beauty. Growing up being called ugly by everybody around me, I guess fueled me to want to open up people’s eyes and hearts to accepting different and all kinds of what is beautiful.

Who are your biggest influences?

Tupac.

What collection/piece of art are you most proud of making?

One time I made eyebrows out of Hot Cheeto fries. It was my proudest moment.

What do you like best about your career?

The connections I make with like- minded and beautiful people. What I don’t like is that my bank account is still at a negative.

If you had one piece of advice for a young person looking to break into this business, what would it be?

Keep pushing thru ++ Always be tru.

What are your goals for the next year? What are your biggest aspirations?

I wanna buy a house and be happy and help people.

What do you like best about JNCO?

I like the space. JNCO gives me that space.

I also like the breeze under and the pockets large enough to fit my iPad in. lol

How does JNCO align with your lifestyle?

"Judge none choose one” same same but different.

Why does JNCO work so well for art/photography?

They’re just freaking cool looking and fun to move in.

When I got to model some JNCOs recently with @alannapearl @nikkolamere @sully_layo and @killgnarly, they practically modeled themselves!

Why do you think there's a demand for this kind of fashion again?

As humans, we are quite nostalgic and crave to relive the past. Also frick skinny jeans. Am I right or am I right?

What's your favorite JNCO product?

I love the vintage ones with crazy embroideries of dragons and skulls and flames. I wish I had a pair!!

From the recent collection, I love the Kangaroo Pouch JeansTranzit Sweater and the Rinse Wash- Smoke Stacks (which I currently wear like everyday!!!)

Why would you recommend JNCO to others?

10/10! 5 Stars!!! Definitely would recommend to all of the friends.

It was a pleasure chatting with Josephine, who is a total gem. Keep up with Josephine on Instagram (@ princessgollum), Snapchat (@babyalmondeyes), or visit her website.

Nice one! I’m nostalgic about the old days, and also miss the diy aspect that came with the rave scene.
